Bedroom Decorating Ideas
When decorating you
bedroom, remember that the bedroom is your sanctury to get away from it
all and relax. This is a not a room that visitors will be entering, so
decorate to your needs and individual styles and tastes. Keep comfort
and your personal tastes in mind, and you should end up with your
bedroom decorating project that's wonderfully and restful.
Getting Started Gather some inspiration from
magazine clippings, pages in some of the decorating books you've
purchased, from photos you've seen in all kinds of catalogs and many
other sources. From these images you will be able to determine the
decorating style you prefer and get started.
Color Scheme Take advantage of the existing
color schemes in your bedroom from the wall covering and border trims.
If you are not happy with the current color scheme, a great budget tip
is to either create a feature wall to inject color into the room, or
paint your border trims. Once you have settled on your dominant room
color, the key is to use decor with complimentary lines, patterns and
textures within your linens, window treatments, rugs and bedding. Read
more on color schemes and moods.
Decor Furnishings Using complimentary colors within
your bedroom gives you the opportunity to enchance aspects of your room
which you wish to be the focal point. You might want to avoid
introducing little swatches of unrelated color, as this distracts from
the overall mood of the bedroom decor. Now you have selected your
decorating materials, it is time to choose placement of your bedroom furniture.
Focal Points Firstly determine where your
bedroom's focal point will be and then work on positioning the bed in
relation to it. Finalise the placement of your bed before adding any
other furnishings to the room. Don't be afraid to experiment with
different angles for the bed, why not drag the bed into the middle of
the room as a starting point if you have to. Once the bed is in place,
work on balancing your other furniture items by positioning night
tables on both sides of it. Typically, each night table would have a
matching lamp placed upon it to create symmetry.
